Quantum Dot Magnets

There are three positions you will have to place magnets into your quantum dot assembly. First, they will need to be placed within the grid of legos on the base of the platform. If you purchased the suggested magnets from the materials list, they are the slimmer ring magnets. You should stack two of them on top of each other and force them into the bottom of the lego so they are with the table. They should all have the same polar orientation (north up).

The second position you will need to place magnets is within the lego particles. You should assemble four or more lego 'triangles' out of 2x2 and 2x4 bricks. Within these (between the 2x2 and 2x4) you should place two of the fatter magnets from the materials list. The pole should be oriented so that when the triangle is oriented with its tip facing the magnets on the baseplate they will be attracted to each other.

The third position for magnets is within the large carrier on the overhead crane. You should place two of the larger magnets into the opening on the crane and seal it with tape. The pole should be oriented so that if the large edge of the triangle is placed up against the bottom of the crane they will be attracted.
